WANTED: Healthy, Easy Breakfast Ideas

I feel like my kids don't get the strong start they deserve. I'm absolutely NOT a morning person and as a result often throw some dry cereal in their general direction whilst wearily rubbing my eyes. I stay away from sugary cereals (except in super rare instances), so I don't worry too much about that. But it still seems like they're getting a poor version of breakfast.

  • Granola bars
  • Whole wheat bagel with (natural) peanut butter
  • Oat bran muffin
  • Fruit
  • Various fruit-yogurt smoothies
  • Whole grain frozen waffles
  • Fruit salad topped with yogurt
  • Instant oatmeal
  • High-fiber, low-sugar cereals (such as wheat/oat flakes, Grape-Nuts and Cheerios)
My question for you is this: Do you have any other ideas?? If yes, let's hear 'em!! :)

Fruity

I figured since we're in the season of yummy fruit, I'd share a little tidbit about fruit.

Fruits that ripen AFTER picking:
Bananas
Melons
Kiwi
Papaya
Pears

Try to eat as close to picking: Stone fruit (apricots, plums, nectarines, peaches, etc)

Fruits that DON'T ripen after picking:
Apples
Grapefruit
Pineapple
Lemons
Limes
Oranges
Tangerines
Watermelon

*smell is the best indicator when something is ripe.

*ripe stone fruit should smell like the fruit they are, they also give slightly.

*color: deeper, more intense color the better the fruit.
